GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
To provide a nurturing, fun and safe environment where kids and adults alike can commit themselves to the pursuit of excellence and self exploration while developing a healthy attitude to competition and life, through increasing body awareness and sensitivity.
Competitive tennis players all too often seem to somewhere lose the joy of simply hitting tennis balls. Our goal is to combine the pursuit of excellence with the innate desire to explore ourselves for the purposes of growth. Why is competition so difficult? Why is losing so painful? Why does winning feel so good? Why does the simple joy of being in the body and playing change so dramatically when competition begins?
By placing an emphasis on the process as opposed to only the result, we believe we can encourage students to transform their competitive experience through paying attention to both their body and their inner process. This increase of ‘feeling awareness’ within the body and a simple non-judgmental ‘acceptance and allowing’ of whatever is there is the process by which ‘growth’ can happen.
DIRECTOR OF TENNIS:
Happy Bhalla brings over 45 years of teaching experience to WTA. Years of striving to learn more and a sincere commitment to be the best he can be. Our teaching style attempts to view students as wholistic individuals, rather than “just” tennis players.
It combines his two passions: spirituality: living with awareness, and tennis: the pursuit of excellence. We believe “tennis can be a powerful vehicle by which individuals can increase self-awareness and thereby grow as individuals and also fulfill their athletic potential”.
All members of our staff are well-trained before they step onto the court to represent Wholistic Tennis Academy. They are chosen, not only for their excellence and commitment to the game, but also because of their sincerity, professionalism, personality, character and ability, desire and fondness to relate to and work with people.
